Welcome to Rickmansworth Waterways Trust
We're a Heritage Education Charity bringing together people from across our community with a love for the canals around Rickmansworth. We present education programmes, maintain a historic canal boat, have organised the Rickmansworth Festival, run a shop and information centre, run short boat rides and longer charters, and provide a pleasant visit to Batchworth Lock.
Update 29th March 2024
From Easter we will be running longer opening hours as we move into the spring months with the canal centre open every day (10am - 4pm ish). Our band of happy volunteers will be ready to sell you ice creams, maps, books, floating bird food etc. We hope to run our regular short return trips between Batchworth and Stockers Locks every day but please call 01923 778382 to book a short trip as occasionally we may not have a volunteer available every weekday.

The Café@Lock81 is also open Wednesdays to Sundays.

The 2024 Learning at the Lock programme is open for bookings
We havbe already taken quite a few bookings for our award winning 'Learning at the Lock' for 2024. We still do have space available so please get in touch if your school would like to participate in a fantastic educational and fun day trip to Batchworth Lock. You will learn about the roles canals had in our history, take a boat ride on the Grand Union Canal and understand the engineering behind this 250 year old wonder of the industrial age.
