Location

By Foot

The Batchworth Lock Canal Centre is located on the Towpath side of the Grand Union Canal between the A404 road bridge (Bridge 173) and Batchworth Lock (Lock 81) and a short walk from Rickmansworth centre. From Rickmansworth Train Station turn right and walk downhill onto Station Road. At the bottom of Station road turn left onto the High Street. At the junction with Church Street turn Right and walk down Church Street, past St Mary's Church until you reach Batchworth Roundabout. Walk straight on for 2 minutes and as you reach the bridge over the canal there are steps on the left leading down to Batchworth Lock.

Disabled Access

Disabled Access is available from the Aquadrome Car Park along the canal towpath or via the Disabled Access Public Footpath that follows the path of the River Chess found at the rear of Travis and Perkins Builders Merchants at Batchworth Roundabout.

By Car

Rickmansworth Town Centre is 10 mins from the M25 Junctions 17 or 18. Batchworth Lock Canal Centre is just off London Road A404 between Batchworth Roundabout and London Road Roundabout.

Parking

Pay and Display Car parks are numerous within and around Rickmansworth town centre. Free parking is also available at several car parks in the town centre or the largest car park is in the Aquadrome park. This is situated a short walk south along the Towpath from Batchworth Lock Canal Centre.

By Train

Rickmansworth is also situated on the Metropolitan Line of the London Underground network (Zone 7) with a regular service running northbound from Baker Street and southbound from Chesham. Chiltern Line trains also runs an overland service northbound from Marylebone Station and southbound from Aylesbury. Rickmansworth station is within easy walking distance (about 10 mins) of the Canal Centre. Boughtons Taxi service is also available next door to the Train Station.

By Boat

The Canal Centre is situated by Batchworth Lock (Lock No 81) on the Grand Union Canal. From Bordesley Junction Birmingham (bridge No 94) the total distance is 116 Miles and 140 locks; about 8 days boating. From Little Venice Junction of Grand Union Regents Canal and Paddington Branch the  total distance is 25 miles and  9 locks. This will take approximately 10 hours. Tesco Supermarket in Rickmansworth has mooring facilities for boats stopping to shop and is situated between bridge 174 and bridge 173. There are plenty of good moorings all along the towpath between Stockers and Batchworth locks.
