Become a Friend of Rickmansworth Waterways Trust and move into the future - together!

The Trust is a small charity with a big output. It has a tiny number of paid staff to run its educational and other important programmes. It relies on volunteers for most of its work.

And this is where the Friends come in - to support the Trust's work, to make the best of our local waterways heritage for others, and in particular to

  • Help - especially at weekends and during school holiday time, looking after the Batchworth area, promoting and supporting the work of the Trust itself, helping people learn about the Rickmansworth Waterways, and raising funds for the Trust.
  • Help run the various activities at Batchworth, including staffing the Lock Centre and greeting our visitors.
  • Crew and maintain the boats, both the working boat Roger and our trip boat Pride of Batchworth. There's room for all, from the experienced expert to the interested beginner: we can provide the training required - in fact, running the training activity is another role for the Friends.
  • Support and help at the Rickmansworth Festival, which we organise and promote each May.

And if you can't help directly, we still value you as a Friend. We expect to have a good social life as Friends - and you can also make an important financial contribution, with the Chancellor helping out with Gift Aid!

So please - become a Friend of Rickmansworth Waterways Trust, by completing the accompanying application. And of course, any donation (within Gift Aid especially) would support our aims.

With your help the Trust can make the most of the waterways around Rickmansworth, open them up to local people, and give our young people access to their heritage.

Stay in touch - you'll receive our Friends' news "The Batchworth Telegraph", in spring and autumn. Find out how we are using your efforts, contribution and goodwill! And take the chance to meet other Friends at our AGM, at least, and we hope more often at our social events.

And your company can be a Business Friend!

Our Business Friends associate themselves with the work of the Trust, and we acknowledge that with a display version of the membership card, and by showing their logo or badge in the Batchworth Telegraph and on a display in the Canal Centre. We thank them for their vital support! The membership form is the same.
